Every step, from the barley varietal and the grind of the mill to the size of the mash tun and the temperature of the alpine water, is carefully considered to shape the spirit’s character.

Founder Desiree Reid pursued her dream of creating a world-class single malt whisky that reflects the purity and beauty of her native New Zealand landscape. Inspired by her experiences in Scotland and the U.S., she brought the same level of craftsmanship and dedication to her homeland. Establishing the distillery in the remote Cardrona Valley, an Outstanding Natural Landscape known for its pristine environment and extreme seasonal temperature variations, was a strategic decision that significantly contributes to the unique character of Cardrona’s spirits.
