Job Description

Hotaling & Co., LLC is seeking a Cost Accountant candidate who will play a critical role in Hotaling’s accounting & finance department. This person will work directly for the Controller and with the distilleries to provide insight on the SKU and distillery costs and efficiencies.

Principal Responsibilities
  1. Enter in work orders from the distilleries in order to build product within the accounting system
  2. Receive all raw goods into the system to assist in monthly costing work
  3. Receive all imported finished goods into the accounting system and determine if landed costs are accurate
  4. Determine what efficiencies and cost savings can be produced with the import business
  5. Report to the TTB all movement of liquid in the distilleries
  6. Reconcile inventory accounts on a monthly basis
  7. Monitor and analyze costing on all new products
  8. Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  9. Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing quarterly reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  10. Conduct in-depth analysis in all areas of product costing and controls and provide status reports to the Controller on a quarterly basis
  11. Determine monthly cost analysis variances and the controls needed for data accumulation
  12. Coordinate with FP&A Manager to develop annual budgeted costs for production SKUs
  13. Analyze bulk whiskey stock costing
  14. Reconcile balance sheet inventory accounts relative to production usage for ingredients, bulk whisky, and dry goods
  15. Set up any new Bill of Material in the accounting system
Qualifications
  1. BS or BA in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  2. [3+] years of direct, relevant experience in Cost Accounting, manufacturing, CPG, alcohol industry preferred
  3. Excellent modeling skills using Excel; ability to utilize experience to continuously improve processes; advanced PowerPoint, Word and database skills
  4. Strong knowledge of financial and accounting concepts
  5. Prior experience in cost accounting/production analysis
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work with diverse groups and departments within the Company
  7. Highest standards of accuracy and precision; attention to details; highly organized
  8. Strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
  9. True team player and self-starter with a keen sense of urgency, who likes to see the big picture and focuses on details
  10. Ability to multi-task and take accountability (i.e., knows when to ask for guidance/coaching when needed)
  11. Willingness and ability to grow with a fast-growing organization
  12. Ability to handle multiple priorities
  13. Deadline-oriented with ability to organize assignments, set priorities and carry out plans
  14. Prior industry experience a plus
